Conifers

The name "Conifer" comes from Latin and means, "to bear cones". Cones are found on conifers at a certain age but it is interesting to learn that several conifers bear berry-like fruit, which botanically are cones.

These are the junipers (cedars), yews and plum-yews. Another feature of these three genera is the fact that the sexes are separate and only female plants produce the berry-like cones.
